The good news though is that for the most part cures are not far from reach and you will feel the relief that comes with a scratchy, raw feeling in your throat in no time. For home remedies to over-the-counter solutions, many can be applied.

    Causes of a Sore Throat: Understanding Them

    Knowing why the throat may be sore in the first place helps find the best relief. Most of the time, sore throats are not issues in their own right and there can be many causes.

    Dryness, smoke, pollution, shouting or singing can cause you throat irritation and even throat pain, and inflammation. Allergens may also be part of an answer; the pollen or dust might trigger inflammation of the thin mucous membrane of the throat. It doesn’t require a genius to understand that if you know what brings about soreness, you can avoid it so that you don’t get a sore throat.

    In most instances, viruses are responsible for sore throat; in other instances it is usually a cold or a flu, a much more severe bacterial strep throat which can be said to be potentially dangerous if not treated as soon as possible.     When the sore throat hits, you feel a desperate need for comfort immediately. Here are some fast and efficient ideas that may help alleviate this problem almost right away.

    Saltwater Gargle

    Another simple though an old cure is salt water gargle. SALT WATER GARGLE Take half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of lukewarm water and gargle for 15-30 seconds. Salt helps to solve the swelling by absorbing the extra fluid that has collected within the tissues, besides killing the bacteria prevailing within the throat that might be paining you. Herbs and Natural Herbal Remedies. It’s an easy, accessible way to feel better quickly.

    Honey and Warm Drinks

    Honey is used as a natural sweetener and it has anti bacterial property that can soothe the throat. A spoon of honey should be diluted in warm water or tea that is not piping hot, then consume it drop by drop. This is a good combination because it feels soothing and helps somewhat reduce the irritation in your throat. For immediate relief, you can take the honey by the spoonful as well.

    Hydration and Its Role in Throat Health

    Probably the most straightforward and effective strategy for maintaining healthy throats is to drink plenty of water. A dehydrated throat is extremely dry and irritable, which is likely to worsen pain.

    Keeping your mucous membranes of your throat hydrated, or moistened-keeping irritants out and aiding in healing much more efficiently-thereby keeping you healthier-is an ideal side effect of staying hydrated. Additionally, dehydration in general tends to aggravate sore throat symptoms, so drink plenty of fluids when you are sick.

    Offer warm teas, water with lemon or clear broths. AVOID liquors and caffeinated beverages and alcohol as they will irritate your throat more. Herbal teas with honey or ginger are especially soothing and will help hydrate you.

    Herbal Teas and Natural Remedies

    Actually some of the herb teas contain properties on anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial that would be quite beneficial if one is handling a sore throat. Here are two of the most commonly used ones:

    Chamomile Tea
